All-Around Performance

Fan favorite for a reason

A lightweight, adjustable-length rod packed with functionality? It's no wonder the SATO™ has been our best selling rod for over a decade.

The original quiver-killer

Triple-zoom construction makes the SATO™ fishable at 330cm, 360cm and 390cm. If you're going to find the one rod that goes everywhere with you, look no further.

Keep your Plug™

No more lost plugs! With our patent-pending feature, simply remove the plug from the top end of your rod and insert it into the hole at the bottom for safekeeping.

A nod to our past

The Sato is named after Mr. Ernest Satow, an avid mountaineer who was the first person to make a written record of tenkara.

Triple-zoom

The SATO™ can be fished at three different lengths (330/360/390cm), giving you options for just about any situation you encounter.

Keep your Plug™

The rod is finished with a 10.5" high-quality cork handle that features an integrated system for storing your plug while in use.

What makes this rod special?

The SATO was developed to handle it all—from headwaters to main branches of rivers—without needing to reach for a specialty rod. Since it's introduction in 2013, it has become that "one rod" to anglers around the world.

Testimonials

Let satisfied tenkara anglers speak for us.

Timothy Minier

“Bought my Sato two years ago off this website and absolutely love the rod. It works very well with nice action. The products I bought with the rod are also high quality. I definitely recommend.”

Trey Davis

“I am new to Tenkara, and the Sato is my first rod. I like it WAY better than western fly fishing. I love the three zoom positions. Tenkara allows true drag free presentations.”

I’m turning 75 this year and first saw guys fishing the Tin Cup river in Idaho with tenkara rods . I was fascinated with the grace and simplicity of this style of fishing. Finally decided to give it a try. I’m sure I won’t be disappointed not to mention giving me an excuse to travel to fantastic trout waters in the US

Honestly I purchased this as my first Tenkara rod. I am brand new to this type fishing. But ordering, shipping and quality of product have all been excellent so far. But more importantly the information you provide to getting started Tenkara fishing is absolutely superb. I hope to be able to get out after the first of the year.

Since 2009
