Several years ago, I bought a Yamame rod from Tenkara USA. It was my first Tenkara rod. Unfortunately, after using it a few times, one of the sections got jammed and it would no longer telescope down. I was still able to use it, but I had to take it apart for storage and it wouldn’t it in a backpack.
A couple of months ago, I was on their site looking at other equipment and learned about their warranty and return policy. I contacted their customer service and while they longer manufacturer the Yamame, they provided me great low-cost options to replace the older broken rod. It was some of the best customer service I’ve received from any company. Their responses to my emails were prompt and I could tell they wanted to make sure I had a good experience with their product and brand.
I was able to get the Hane rod as a replacement at a fair price. The Hane is a fantastic Tenkara rod. It’s durable and telescopes down to a great size for backcountry fishing. It also looks amazing. I’ve been really impressed with Tenkara USA—great products and customer service.
Tenkara USA has been great to work with. A family member stepped on my Yamame rod and broke the tip of it. Since they don't carry the Yamame any longer, they asked me to chose the rod I wanted (I chose the Sato) and only charged me shipping. Now that's customer service. I'll continue to buy their products and buy rods as Christmas gifts for my friends and family. I compare this to the so called Patagonia "Ironclad Guarantee" on my boots that the rubber tip was peeling back and they would not cover it, or the so called "Simms Guarantee" that's supposed to repair your leaking waders for $60 and they send them back to you...

When I slipped on a boulder, my feet flew out in front of me and landed on my back, my sling pack, and my extended rod. The fall crushed my rod. Though the day was over I didn’t despair, I knew this warranty program was in place for clumsy situations. TUSA had me back out on the water in just a few days. Great customer service and shipping time.
