Ishigaki™ Kebari (size 12, 3 flies)
These are the tenkara flies used by renowned tenkara angler, and leading authority on tenkara in Japan, Dr. Hisao Ishigaki. For the last 10 years, Dr. Ishigaki has used this one tenkara fly pattern exclusively, and has continued catching as many fish as he ever did. The Ishigaki Kebari (Ishigaki fly) fully embodies the simple spirit of tenkara fly fishing, where more emphasis is placed on the technique of the angler, not on the gear he uses.
Size 12. Three flies per set.

I used to change flies all the time. However this fly I use almost exclusively now. I have not been skunked all summer using this fly
I see this fly as the evil twin to the Amano, well thats how my brain works. If my Amano is not working this goes on. The muskrats always look at me strange when they hear, "well you asked for it, welcome to the dark side". It's an awesome fly use it.
I almost exclusively use the size 16 fly that Tenkara USA has. But I also like a little variety in my life. When it does come time to change flies, this is my second choice. It hold up to weeds and rocks well. It doesn't lose its shape easily, and I can consistently use the same fly for a couple sessions. When I hook a fish, it doesn't come off typically. I have caught everything from four inches to 17 inches with this fly. I find that it's almost a little too big for the babies, but anything of size it is a great fly. Try it out and fall in love.
These flies have worked well. I like the simplicity of these for smaller waters.
Dr. Ishigaki has contributed so much to the knowledge of tenkara in the US. From all the reading I have done this is the fly he has been using for probably 2 decades. I favor this fly often in the streams I fish, it is the ideal tenkara fly for mountain streams, and it works great. I have full confidence in it. I like that Tenkara USA's flies are all tied on barbless hooks and are well tied so they last long.
