The Ito is very easy to cast and is very capable at fighting fish. It has a very light feel and that makes detecting takes very easy.
I carried the replacement parts in case I break a section while fishing. Never had a fish break one, but the tip section, tippets and lures get caught on branches. Accident happen.
These rods are so much fun with dry flies on a nice top water current that's steady (not stagnant) but not fast either. I traditionally use my reeled 9' 4# for top water, and a 9' 8# "streamer" rod for larger flies with heavier leader in deeper water. SO, I have nothing bad to say about my Iwana or the replacement parts quality or performance, however, in a narrow stream with steep banks, dense vegetation, and structures like bridges, a 12' rod of any kind is likely to get the tip abused without intention. It's just my environment. I need to say though, the sensation of a trout on a rod ads lively as my Tenkara rod is a completely unique sensation, and one I won't five up chasing as I continue angling.
I really enjoy using my Ukiyo. I am able to cast this with ease and love the feel of this rod in my hand. I am able to detect subtle strikes and to play/land fish with this wonderful rod.
