tenkara - the book
Description
In tenkara - the book, Tenkara USA founder Daniel Galhardo shows just how simple fixed line fly-fishing can be. This book is a complete guide to the tenkara techniques, tenkara gear, history and philosophy of tenkara, and the method of fly-fishing of Japanese tenkara anglers.
Daniel brings tenkara anglers along on a journey of learning tenkara fishing directly from the tenkara masters in Japan as he shares information on the method‚ equipment and techniques.
A tenkara angler picking up a tenkara fixed length line rod for the first time will find the concepts in the tenkara book well laid out and intuitive. Most tenkara anglers will appreciate the simpler approach to fly-fishing than Western fly-fishing and the advanced tenkara techniques shared in the book. tenkara - the book will demonstrate why tenkara has been adopted by many anglers to catch fish around the world.
Tenkara - the book is a tenkara fly-fishing guide designed to be interactive and take advantage of all the resources on tenkara fly-fishing we have created over the years. You’ll find information on tenkara rods, flies, tenkara lines, and tenkara techniques for catching fish to enhance your tenkara fly-fishing trip. Throughout the tenkara book, readers will find QR (quick read) codes that will give access to the videos, podcast episodes and other complementary information to the chapters at hand.

Love the book!
wonderful resource to start and refine your practice. beautiful illustrations
it was alright...learned a couple of things and got a handle on this style of fishing...QR codes were nice though some didn't seem to work...all in all watching videos is better and getting out and doing it is the best way to learn
Emjoyed the history and techniques of Tenkara. Thorough in the technique instruction.
I bought the Sato and I fumbled that first try, have brook fished VT and NH since I was very young and this new tool to do so excites me . Unfortunately it have not been out after that and am waiting until i reread the book to ensure I get the correct line and all. 75 % of my trout fishing has only one very specific lure ( 1/16 oz Thomas spoon gold only. In this part of the United States I will make you look bad when you see how quickly and constant my results are. Often my uncles will run the traditional fly rods fishing the Ottauquechee river through Bridgewater and Woodstock VT. Not having learned the specific style I will run ahead 50-100 yds with my Thomas and as long as I beach it across the river and crank hard and fast they tend not struck but wow does it wind them up just in time for the uncles flies to come a drifting bye.. super good time and so many laughs at how I always seem to wake up the feeding ( well as long as we hit it just before they start grabbing off the surface, my Thomas works like none other. ). All that being said and so off topic if there are trout an a spot I stop, hungry or not they will be after me in just a few throws.. it will be epic to show up unequipped and only my rod line and fly and show em up all the same . Line is my hold up in short, the memory on the line that came in the kit was like tossing a slinky out how I bounced back and well the hand made level line claims to have les to none of that so hope to make the right choice next and never look back at my thomas
