HANE™ 10ft10in (330cm)
The Hane™ is a super compact all-around tenkara rod that will quickly become your favorite adventure rod. Measuring just under 15 inches when collapsed, but extending to 10ft 10in (330cm), the Hane fits nicely inside a small day pack, making this a superb tenkara rod for backpacking, bikefishing and other adventures.
Whether you are targeting trout in a mountain stream, or bass in an urban pond, the Hane will work well. It's a rod that can tag along in a variety of conditions without compromising durability. The Hane is also a popular rod for kids.
We decided to make this rod white, a unique color in our lineup. The idea was to have a rod that will blend in well with open skies above. A black rod does a good job blending in with canopy, but its movement tends to stand out when fishing ponds and open meadow streams. The thin and less visible tip sections of the rod are matte black.

I have just about every rod TenkaraUSA makes and it has become perhaps y favorite way to fish, but the Hane adds a whole lot of other dimensions and in otherwise tough circumstances for the longer rods. It works like a dream in so many ways, small creeks, overgrown areas, Euro style ( and especially with a dry and dropper type set up), windy days and more.
If I were to press for a drawback, it would be the fragility of the tip section, but that is a big part of what I like about it, the sensitivity that comes with the fragility. And what Tenkara rod doesn't have a somewhat fragile tip?
I had problems with breaking tips when I first started fishing Tenkara, a lot my own fault for not studying more as to what's available on the web site and then "practicing it." Replacement tip sections are eminently and reasonably priced, if not sometimes free. I learned a lot also by calling the company (emphasis on "breaking down" the rod a bit after landing a bigger fish, keeping things very straight when handling and so much more. It's quite special when the founder (Daniel) answers the phone and seems willing to talk and share all day.
Being a bit facetious, I cannot say the Hane is the best of the lot because all the models I have are 5 stars or more in my book. Not only is Tenkara incredibly effective, engaging and fun, but there is something about the simple elegance of it that moves me greatly. It takes some time and effort to get to feeling competent and having a sense of what to do and where, but it sure is worth it.
Tip broke first use. Not happy!
I recently received my new Hane rod. As a user of a Sato and Amago TUSA rod I knew the Hane would be a quality and useful rod for me. I fish ponds, creeks and rivers for panfish, trout and bass. I find the Hane is perfect for where and what I fish. The Hane is small when closed, nice length when open and the white color is beautiful. The ease of casting short and long lines is awesome. Very versatile rod. Highly recommend.
O just received the rod and new toTenkara fishing have not had a chance to use it. Looking to soon.
Very happy with Tenkara - Have purchased 2 rods - One for another individual - A great product!
