Lou Digena is a tenkara guide in New Jersey. Lou is an early adopter of tenkara, embracing the technique and equipment since Tenkara USA first introduced it to the United States in 2009.
He was attracted to tenkara for its simplicity and elegance. This philosophy carries over into his fly tying.
A regular at the Fly Fishing Show along tiers row and on Regal Pro-Staff fly tier and the Solarez and Ewing teams.
His philosophy mirrors tenkara systems, breaking down the complexity of fly fishing into simpler systems with observation to make fly fishing and tying simple and elegant.
Fly fishing and tying for over forty years, as well as advocating for cold-water fisheries conservation, is currently serving as President of the Central Jersey chapter of Trout Unlimited and on the Trout Unlimited National Leadership Council.
Currently guiding out of South Branch Outfitters in Califon, NJ, Lou is not just a tenkara guide but a passionate educator. He is dedicated to sharing his extensive knowledge of tenkara, especially with anglers new to this style of fishing.
