I like using my tenkara gear to catch: Smaller size fish (say 8-12" / 20-30cm), Medium size fish (12-16" / 30-40cm)
I like using my tenkara rod in: Very small streams, Mountain streams, Larger streams or rivers
    Small mountain streams

Having taken about a five year hiatus from practicing Tenkara, coming back to such a broadened pool of resources was a real treat. I remember first meeting Daniel and my mentor-to-be Jason at a fly fishing expo in 2013; I was just beginning my delve into fly fishing, and was scouring Youtube and Google for anything regarding this immersive form of fly fishing. After that meeting, and some river mileage under my belt, I was hooked. Fast forward to today, with how popular Tenkara has become outside of Japan as both a main form of practice as well as a great addition to any fisherpersons' quiver, Tenkara- the book is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to get started, build upon their experience, or fine-tune their practice. This book is a culmination of years of shared experience, research, and time on the water; most importantly, it emphasizes in the first few pages the importance of tradition and proficiency for generations of Japanese, properly citing Tenkara masters in Japan and highlighting its cultural origins.

I like using my tenkara gear to catch: Medium size fish (12-16" / 30-40cm), Very Large fish (>20" / 50cm)
I like using my tenkara rod in: Larger streams or rivers
I fish all types of areas from small mountain streams to rivers like the Madison, Big Hole

I thought the book was well put together and enjoyed learning about new types of rods for different occasions. I would suggest that anyone who might like tenkara read this book and it will give them all the information for them to make an informative purchase in the future.

Excellent book for all tenkara enthusiasts

If you're just starting with tenkara or want to brush up on your skills, this book has it all. It covers everything from basic to more advanced techniques in a clear and straightforward manner. I've read quite a few books on fly fishing but this is the first one I read from cover to cover. It is a really informative and practical guide that does not overwhelm the reader with unnecessary details or technicalities, but focuses on intuitive aspects of tenkara. Like tenkara itself, the clean and simple presentation makes this book so appealing. The book layout and design are excellent and the graphics and illustrations that explain equipment and techniques are very instructive. One thing I really like about this book is that it covers the origins and history of tenkara, and recognizes the important contributions from the Japanese masters that ultimately helped Daniel Galhardo (and now all of us) learn more about this wonderful way of fly fishing. I highly recommend this book!

I'm really enjoying this book. I scanned ahead to see what was in store and now I'm about 1/2 way through studying it. It's full of nuggets of knowledge about Tenkara and knowing some history of Tenkara in Japan and evolution of Tenkara in the USA is very interesting. I especially enjoy the use of QR Codes to access videos and further information - it's great use of Technology. Will this book make me a better Tenkara fisherman? Absolutely! Will this book enhance my enjoyment of Tenkara and encourage me to go out even more often? Yes it already has done so. Thank you, Daniel for this book - it's a great and creative enhancement for Tenkara Fishermen, wherever they may live.
