The most complete library of tenkara videos, we've created over 100 videos over the years. Our videos cover everything you need to know as you discover tenkara and its advantages. Clearly see tenkara techniques in action like: pinpoint accurate casts, the ability to keep line off the currents for drag-free presentations of the fly, and the intuitive landing of fish.
The Tenkara Cast® is the main tenkara podcast available. In it, Tenkara USA founder, Daniel Galhardo, speaks about all aspects of tenkara, from philosophy to how-to's.
Our tenkara blog has been one of the main channels we have used to spread tenkara far and wide. Here you can browse over a decade of content that is still relevant today.
First Tenkara rod, love the rod and this “new” style of fishing. Played around in local stream in the middle of town and caught fish right away. Really fun, convenient and quick to get in the water. Ordered a kit, arrived quick and packed well. Already have some fishing buddies wanting to try the rod so they can figure out what model to buy.
I love these rods and the ease of getting parts.
I have just about every rod TenkaraUSA makes and it has become perhaps y favorite way to fish, but the Hane adds a whole lot of other dimensions and in otherwise tough circumstances for the longer rods. It works like a dream in so many ways, small creeks, overgrown areas, Euro style ( and especially with a dry and dropper type set up), windy days and more.
If I were to press for a drawback, it would be the fragility of the tip section, but that is a big part of what I like about it, the sensitivity that comes with the fragility. And what Tenkara rod doesn't have a somewhat fragile tip?
I had problems with breaking tips when I first started fishing Tenkara, a lot my own fault for not studying more as to what's available on the web site and then "practicing it." Replacement tip sections are eminently and reasonably priced, if not sometimes free. I learned a lot also by calling the company (emphasis on "breaking down" the rod a bit after landing a bigger fish, keeping things very straight when handling and so much more. It's quite special when the founder (Daniel) answers the phone and seems willing to talk and share all day.
Being a bit facetious, I cannot say the Hane is the best of the lot because all the models I have are 5 stars or more in my book. Not only is Tenkara incredibly effective, engaging and fun, but there is something about the simple elegance of it that moves me greatly. It takes some time and effort to get to feeling competent and having a sense of what to do and where, but it sure is worth it.
Great build quality! I am able to catch small wild trout in Missouri with ease but also some larger 3lb and 4lb trout so long as I use my feet as the drag and move around a lot :) You will not be disappointed with this purchase.
the perfect starter kit for my Sato
Replacement Amago parts! Spot on easy to fix and shipping was extremely fast. Hats off to the team for responding to my question online and helpful guidance getting the correct section
I have really enjoyed my Sato rod on small streams in NC mountains. But I managed to damage the rod by a reassembly effort while fishing. This was certainly my fault. However, Tenkara repair personnel were very understanding and replaced the rod at a nominal cost. This was customer support and service beyond my expectations. Thanks Tenkara USA
Initial fly box was a gift for a friend. He went stream fishing here in colorado , strange as it may seem, on Christmas Eve. Multiple fishermen were on the same stream. In the 2 hour period he fished,he caught 2 nice trout. The other fishermen caught nothing. A big thumbs up yea for the tenkara flies.
Overall a god rod to accommodate my Hane and Amago just disappointed rod tip broke on a 10 in bass but still satisfied with rod and company ordering a replacement tip now
The pack holds everything you need and nothing you don’t. Access to the various compartments is easy and there are enough compartments to adequately organize your gear.
This is a great rod for fishing everything from smaller streams to larger rivers and lakes. I love how compact it is, making it great for travel and storage. Once it is together though, it is sturdy and responsive. Despite how light weight it feels, it is sturdy and has wonderful sensitivity.
This was a gift for my son. He seemed very happy to receive it.
Fishing has been a life long passion for me. I fish mountain streams in April and May for trout. I live in an area where we have access to many mountain and man made lakes however winter restricts access due to snow and unpassable mountain roads. I am anxiously waiting for spring to try out this Tenkara rod. I am an avid fly fisherman and am looking forward to this new technology to me. Winter finds me at a local lake where the fish are large. Still with a fly rod I manage to land many in the 10 pound plus range. I can't say enough about TJ, the person I have been dealing with at Tenkara. His attitude and professionalism is above reproach, not to mention his vast knowledge. He has been very helpful bringing me up to speed. Now to study the web site to see what all I can't live without and pray for an early spring. I will be the first on the stream with my Tenkara Iwana 12 foot beauty. Thank you for the help and the exciting future.
